New Zealand's Corey Peters has warmed up for his assault on qualifying for the Paralympics with a strong performance in Japan.

Peters clinched a silver medal in the Super-G at the World Cup event in Hakuba, less than a week out from the start of test events for the 2018 Winter Paralympics.

New Plymouth 33-year-old Peters placed just 0.04 seconds behind American Andrew Kurka, with Japanese Paralympic champion Akira Kano third.

Peters, who won a grand slalom silver at the 2014 Sochi Paralympics, will contest the test event at next year's Games host city Pyeongchang in Korea.

Fellow-Kiwi Adam Hall will also compete at the event beginning on Sunday.
