NZ rates high for energy security

NZ NewswireNZ Newswire 17/06/2016

New Zealand has been ranked third for energy security among 25 countries surveyed by the US Chamber of Commerce.

Norway is top of the list and Mexico is second. The US and Denmark are fourth and fifth.

New Zealand's high ranking is helped by the fact that it produces all of the natural gas and coal it uses.

The countries surveyed account for about four-fifths of total world energy demand.

Australia is ranked ninth, with Ukraine the least secure country.
