Rugby history buffs have a new website to go to as New Zealand Rugby (NZR) marks 125 years of existence on Easter Sunday.

The site,, charts the years from the introduction of rugby to New Zealand in 1872, to the formation of NZR in 1892 through to the current day.

"Over 125 years, New Zealand Rugby has evolved from its initial role to 'settle disputes' and 'develop a better system of inter-union visits' to become responsible for running and developing all areas of the game," says chief executive Steve Tew.

Rugby has evolved massively over the years and must remain relevant for future generations, he says.

As well as recognising milestones though every decade since NZR's formation, the site features interactive quiz questions to test budding historians and includes information on the union's priorities at the time taken from the minute books.
