He's attending the Intelligent Transport Systems World Congress in Melbourne to promote New Zealand as a test bed for new technologies.

"This summit brings together thinkers and entrepreneurs at the leading edge of new transport technologies," he says.

He's leading a delegation of public and private sector representatives that will showcase innovative work taking place in New Zealand.

The technologies include connected and autonomous vehicles, and unmanned aerial vehicles.

"New Zealand offers a fantastic testing environment for many ITS technologies, and we want to send a very clear message during this World Congress that we are open for business," he says.

More than 7000 people are expected to visit the event at the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre where 300 exhibitors from 60 countries are showing products.
