New Zealand showjumper Sharn Wordley has notched one of the best results of his career at a three-star event in the United States.

US-based Wordley won the FEI BMW Grand Prix in Tryon, North Carolina on Casper. He also placed third on his second horse, Barnetta.

The 42-year-old claims a decent chunk of the $130,000 prizemoney, with some of it also going to second-placed Irishman Conor Swail on Hetman of Colours.

Nine of 36 combinations qualified for a jump-off, which Casper won by going clear in a slick time of 40.614 seconds.

It was the same venue at which Wordley and Casper won a $180,000 Grand Prix event in July.

A regular on the US Grand Prix circuit, Wordley represented New Zealand at the 2008 Beijing Olympics.
