Chris Wood's goal-scoring streak in the English Championship for Leeds United has been acknowledged with an award for the All Whites striker.

Wood was crowned the PFA Fans' Championship player of the month after collecting almost half of the public's votes.

Wood scored six goals in four second-tier Championship games in January, including the winner against Derby and a brace in a 3-0 victory over Rotherham.

Another goal last week took Wood's tally to 18 in 29 league games. He is second on the goalscoring list, behind the 20 scored by Dwight Gayle for league leaders Newcastle United

A shortlist of six players was chosen by an expert panel before the winner of the monthly award was decided by a public vote.

Brighton goalkeeper David Stockdale came second in the voting while Bristol City's Tammy Abraham was third.

Leeds are fifth in the 24-team Championship and are poised to challenge for promotion to the Premier League.
