New Zealand have kept their unbeaten record at the Oceania under-17 soccer championship intact with a 5-0 win over Fiji in their final pool match.

The Kiwis had already qualified for the semi-finals after thumping Samoa 11-0 and edging the Solomon Island 2-1 in Papeete, Tahiti.

Coach Danny Hay's side have scored 18 goals and conceded just one on their way to topping the pool.

First-half goals by Matthew Jones and Eiljah Just against Fiji gave New Zealand a 2-0 lead at the break, Max Mata extending that with a 76th minute header.

Jones added a second in extra time, with a Charles Spragg penalty completing the rout.

New Zealand will face Papua New Guinea, who upset Tahiti 2-1 in their final pool match, in the semi-finals on Wednesday.

The teams who reach the tournament final will qualify for the 24-nation World Cup in India in October.
