The Black Ferns will play Hong Kong for the first time at next year's women's rugby World Cup after the qualifying process wrapped up.

World No.17 Japan won the Oceanic qualifying tournament in Hong Kong, finishing unbeaten courtesy of a 20-8 win over the 23rd-ranked hosts on Saturday.

Both teams advance to the World Cup in Ireland in August.

Four-time champions New Zealand, the world's top-ranked side, will face Canada, Wales and Hong Kong in pool play.
