NZ win two-from-two at Las Vegas Sevens

New Zealand have guaranteed themselves a quarter-final berth at the world sevens series tournament in Las Vegas after two comfortable pool wins.

The All Blacks Sevens beat Kenya 24-7 and Russia 19-5 to ensure their place in the last eight regardless the result of their last pool game on Sunday (NZT) against unbeaten Argentina.

Sherwin Stowers, Tim Mikkleson, Dylan Collier and Sione Molia were the try-scorers against Kenya, in a game they trailed 7-5 at halftime.

It was similarly tight early on against Russia before Isaac Te Tamaki and captain DJ Forbes crossed in the second half.

New Zealand were fourth coming into the fifth round of the 10-leg world series. They are 29 points behind South Africa, who have won three tournaments.
