Eight leading New Zealand women's sevens players have recommitted to the code.

Captain Sarah Goss, who led New Zealand to a silver medal at the Rio Olympics, has signed through to 2018, making her available for that year's World Cup in San Francisco and the Commonwealth Games on the Gold Coast.

The others to sign NZ Rugby sevens contracts are Portia Woodman, Gayle Broughton, Kelly Brazier, Kayla McAlister, Ruby Tui, Terina te Tamaki and Niall Williams.

The team's new coach, succeeding Sean Horan, is expected to be named in November.
