A man suspected of the fatal shooting of a Southwest Airlines employee at Oklahoma City's main airport, prompting a lock down, has himself been found dead.

The suspect in a fatal shooting at Oklahoma City's main airport has been found dead, ending an hours-long manhunt.

The body of an unidentified man had been found with a gunshot wound to the head in a pick-up truck in the car park of Will Rogers Airport, police spokesman Paco Balderrama said on Tuesday.

Normal operations had resumed, he added, and flights were restarting after police completed a search of the terminal.

The man is suspected of having shot dead a Southwest Airlines employee, whom local media identified as Michael Winchester, father of NFL player James Winchester, in the car park.

The killing prompted police to lock down the airport, suspending all flights, as they searched for the gunman.

Will Rogers Airport is about 8lm from Oklahoma City, which is the capital of Oklahoma.
