The Rio Olympics have added extra spice to the cycling club road nationals in Alexandra this weekend.

The New Zealand high performance women's endurance track squad will compete in the 80km elite race on Sunday as they continue to sharpen for Rio.

National time trial and road race elite champion Rushlee Buchanan will be joined by fellow elite track riders Jaime Nielsen, Georgia Williams, Lauren Ellis, Racquel Sheath, Alysha Keith and Holly Edmondson.

New Zealand is one of only three countries to qualify a full quota of track cyclists across 10 events for the Rio Olympics.

Four track sprint cyclists have already been selected, with endurance and road athletes to be named in July.
