One arrest after Levin incident

NZ NewswireNZ Newswire 17/06/2016

A 28-year-old man has been arrested in relation to the armed incident that forced the lock down of a Levin primary school on Thursday.

The arrest came after the armed offenders squad searched a Levin property on Friday, police say.

The man has been charged with a firearms offence and the investigation is continuing.

On Thursday police said the matter had been resolved without incident, and contrary to suggestions on social media, no one was taken hostage.

Taitoko School asked students to remain on school grounds and the public were asked to stay away when armed police were sent to Liverpool and Balmoral Streets in the Horowhenua town.
