One person has been taken to hospital following an Invercargill house fire.

Firefighters were called to the fire on Crinan Street early on Friday morning where the roof of the wooden building, which housed three flats, was ablaze as well as the back section.

All occupants successfully escaped, but one was given first aid and taken to Invercargill Hospital, fire safety officer Duane Shannon said.
