Rio-bound track cyclists Sam Webster and Eddie Dawkins have stepped up their Olympic preparation with a one-two finish at the German grand prix meet in Cottbus.

Webster edged Dawkins 2-0 in the best-of-three sprint final after topping the qualifiers in 9.942sec.

All four Kiwis qualified for the elimination rounds, Dawkins clocking 9.979, while Ethan Mitchell's 10.226 and Zac Williams's 10.250 also saw them ease through.

On his way to the final, Webster beat Mitchell in the quarter-finals before accounting for former world keirin champion Maximilian Levy in two straight rides in the semis.

Dawkins also picked up an impressive scalp in beating current keirin and time trial world champion Joachim Eilers 2-1 in the other semi-final.

Mitchell finished eighth overall and Williams 16th.
