The names of two men involved in a Kapiti Coast boating accident on Monday have been released.

The body of 52-year-old Otaki man Wayne Anthony De Bruyn was recovered on Monday, but 35-year-old Jared Anthony Anderson, from New Plymouth is still missing, and is presumed drowned.

The small inflatable craft that the pair were in overturned at the mouth of the Otaki River.

A full-scale search involving police, the coastguard, surf lifesavers and search and rescue personnel was executed, but only Mr De Bruyn's body was found.

The operation was suspended on Tuesday afternoon.

A shoreline search will be carried out at low tide over the next few days to try and locate Mr Anderson's body.
