Munro smashed 146 off 109 balls on the second day of the match against Central Districts at Colin Maiden Park in Auckland, swatting 16 fours and seven sixes in their 385-7.

The big-hitter was caught in the deep, ending an innings which revived memories of a world record-breaking knock two seasons ago, also against Central Districts.

Munro's 281 off 167 balls in Napier featured 23 sixes, the most in any first class innings.

The 29-year-old has endured a lean period since a quickfire Twenty20 101 against Bangladesh seven weeks ago, resulting in his axing for the current one-day international series against South Africa.
