MELBOURNE, Australia — Cricket Australia says fast bowlers Mitchell Starc and Josh Hazlewood will be rested from the team's one-day international tour of South Africa.

Chief selector Rod Marsh said Friday the pair "have had big tours of Sri Lanka ... we believe missing the tour of South Africa is the right time for them to take a break."

Hazlewood will return home from Sri Lanka while Starc will play in the remaining ODI on Sunday and in two Twenty20 matches.

The South Africa tour includes one ODI against Ireland on Sept. 27 in Benoni, South Africa and five against South Africa.

Australia has 10 tests scheduled over the next six months — three each at home against South Africa and Pakistan and four in India beginning next February.
