Paddon skittery in Swedish opening stage

Kiwi driver Hayden Paddon isn't too concerned despite a patchy start to Rally Sweden.

Paddon was 11th quickest in the 1.9km special stage in snowy conditions at Karlstad, although he is only 3.2 seconds down on the quickest time set by Finland's Jari-Matti Latvala.

Paddon struggled for traction and his Hyundai clipped two barriers.

"I got caught out a couple of times on the ice. But tomorrow is where it starts," he said.

Paddon is dedicating his drive this week to family of the man killed when he lost control on a corner at the World Rally Championship opening round in Monte Carlo last month.

Seven stages await on the first full day on Friday.
