Paddon snares fifth in WRC Germany

NZ NewswireNZ Newswire 22/08/2016

Kiwi rally drivers Hayden Paddon and John Kennard have secured their third fifth-place finish of the season at the WRC Germany.

The pair completed Sunday's stages with three top-six times, moving Paddon into equal third in the WRC Drivers' Championship on 94 points.

A fourth stage was cancelled due to spectator interference.

They finished more than three and a half minutes behind French rally winner Sebastien Ogier, but well ahead of Norwegian Mads Ostberg in sixth.

Paddon and Kennard will next get behind the wheel at the Tour de Corse, also known as "The Rally of 10,000 Corners", in late September.

"To be back third in the championship is certainly a good place," Paddon said.

"We'd like to try and hang on to that for the rest of the year but it's going to be a big fight between about four of us."
