Paddon stays third in Rally Poland

NZN 2/07/2016

New Zealand's Hayden Paddon has produced a consistent performance to remain in third place heading into the final leg of Rally Poland.

Paddon and co-driver John Kennard finished in the top five in six of the seven speed tests on the third day.

It included a win for the pair in their Hyundai on the second running over the 14.75km Goldap stage.

"Not too bad a day," he said.

"We've been consistent, not the fastest, but no mistakes and that's the biggest thing."

Paddon is 27.8 seconds behind leader Ott Tanak, while he has a 15.7s buffer over Belgium's Thierry Neuville in fourth place.

Tanak swept the morning's stages, winning all three in his Ford to open out his margin over the rest of the field.

The Estonian, who is seeking his maiden victory in a World Rally Championship event, is 21.3s ahead of second-placed Andreas Mikkelsen of Norway.

The final day contains four stages totally 59.60km.

Paddon secured his first victory in a WRC round in Argentina in April but then crashed out in the two intervening rallies in Portugal and Italy.
