Two people have been arrested following the discovery of a haul of cannabis plants and meth paraphernalia in a Central Otago town.

Police say a 22-year-old local man has been charged with importation of methamphetamine and cultivation of cannabis after a search on Tuesday morning turned up 40 plants at a home in Clyde.

The raid came after three importations of meth were intercepted at the border by Customs.

The man will appear in Dunedin District Court on Wednesday, while a 28-year-old woman also charged with cultivation of cannabis was due to appear in Alexandra District Court on Tuesday.
