Par round steadies Ko in Michigan

NZ NewswireNZ Newswire 29/05/2016

Kiwi golfer Lydia Ko has edged a couple of places up the leaderboard at the LPGA tournament in Michigan into a share of 25th place with one round remaining.

Ko, who opened with back-to-back rounds of 71 at the Travis Pointe Country Club in Ann Arbor, managed an even-par 72 for her third round.

She mixed three birdies with three bogeys, and lies eight shots off the pace set by leader Ariya Jutanugarn.

Jutanugarn's third-round one-over 73 gives her a one-stroke lead in the Volvik Championship over Americans Jessica Korda and Christina Kim.

The 20-year-old Thai is trying to become the first golfer to win three straight LPGA Tour events since Inbee Park in 2013.

She won three weeks ago in Alabama to become the first Thai winner in tour history and followed with a victory last week in Virginia.
