Parker booted out of parliament

Labour's long-serving MP David Parker was ordered out of the debating chamber on Thursday after a spat with Speaker David Carter.

They clashed when Mr Carter ruled one of Mr Parker's questions out of order because he considered the issue it covered didn't involve ministerial responsibility.

Mr Parker compared that with the way Mr Carter had earlier dealt with a government minister.

"I expect fair treatment across the House," Mr Parker said.

Mr Carter ordered him out.

"That's a direct reflection on the Speaker of this parliament," he said.
