Four goals from Marco Parolo laid the platform for Lazio's 6-2 away win over bottom-placed Pescara.

Lazio triumphed 6-2 at troubled Pescara as Marco Parolo struck four times to help them go fourth in Serie A.

In Bergamo, Atalanta's Alejandro Gomez struck twice in a 2-0 defeat of Cagliari, which put the hosts level on points with Inter. Napoli pummelled Bologna 7-1 Saturday to move into second place ahead of Roma, who look to regain it when they welcome Fiorentina Tuesday.

The match in Pescara saw Parolo head in twice in the first quarter hour, but the cellar-dwellers levelled from Ahmad Benali and Gaston Brugman before Gianluca Caprari failed to convert a penalty.

But Parolo, who had scored only once before this season in December, found a third winning header on 49 and closed the scoring with a volley after goals from Keita Balde and Ciro Immobile.

Earlier Sunday, AC Milan lost 1-0 at home to Sampdoria, suffering a third straight league defeat and slipping five points behind European berths.

At the rainy Giuseppe Meazza, home goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma denied Karol Linetty's close-range attempt in the first half, while the Devils' new signing Gerard Deulofeu hit the post in the 48th minute.

The hosts were stunned in the 70th when Gabriel Paletta's foul on Fabio Quagliarella led to a penalty that Luis Muriel converted by wrong-footing Donnarumma.

Sampdoria's Emiliano Viviano blocked a drive from substitute Gianluca Lapadula before the hosts had Jose Sosa sent off in the closing stages for a second bookable offence.

Milan stay eighth with a game in hand while Sampdoria, who beat Roma 3-2 last weekend, moved to 10th.

Elsewhere, Torino's Andrea Belotti flicked home off a free-kick under the bar in a 1-1 draw at Empoli to tally his 15th goal while attacking partner Iago Falque had a penalty saved by Lukasz Skorupski.

Sassuolo won 1-0 at Genoa, while Chievo and Udinese drew 0-0 as the hosts had Bostjan Cesar dismissed eight minutes from time.
