Person stuck in former bank vault freed

A person who became trapped in the vault of a former bank in an Auckland building has been freed.

Fire crew were alerted about 2.30pm on Sunday after a worker went into the vault and the door automatically locked behind them.

Fire Service northern communications shift manager Jaron Phillips said the person had now been released.

The building in William Roberts Rd, Pakuranga, was once a National Bank branch and is now the premises of the Auckland Music Academy.
