Peters can expect enthusiastic reception

NZ NewswireNZ Newswire 2/09/2016

NZ First is holding its annual convention this weekend and leader Winston Peters is sure to get an enthusiastic reception from delegates.

The party is doing well in the polls, holding support at between nine and 10 per cent compared with seven to eight per cent last year.

It's firmly entrenched in parliament and Mr Peters holds the electorate seat of Northland after defeating National in a by-election.

The convention opens in Dunedin on Saturday and Mr Peters speaks on Sunday.

He's expected to tell delegates the party is well placed to run a strong election campaign next year and forecast NZ First will be part of the next government.
