Folcroft Borough police officer Christopher Dorman, 25, is in critical but stable condition after being struck several times around 10 a.m., a local CBS affiliate reported.

Dorman was responding to reports of people smoking narcotics in the backyard of a Folcroft home when he was ambushed and hit by gunfire. He was saved by a bullet proof vest after getting struck in the face, leg and chest by bullets, according to Folcroft Chief Robert Ruskowski.

Fox 29 reported that Dorman has been with the police department for a little more than a year and was formerly a volunteer fire fighter in Folcroft, a borough outside of Philadelphia in Delaware County

Cops have four people—one man and three women— in custody in connection with the shooting, following a three-hour manhunt, ABC reported. It's unclear whether any of the suspects is the shooter.

The search for suspects focused on the Folcroft rail station, wreaking havoc for Friday morning train travel.

Amtrak and SEPTA resumed service after suspending lines in the Northeast corrider outside of Philadelphia while authorities look for the shooter.

Officials voiced their concern for the police-targeted violence.

“Praying for a full recovery," U.S. Senator Pat Toomey tweeted Friday morning.

"Please keep his family in your prayers," Pennsylvania Governor Tom Wolf posted to Twitter.

This is a developing story. Check back in for updates.
