Wellington Phoenix have continued their A-League warm-up with a 3-0 win over a Central League selection team at Weka Park on the Kapiti Coast near Wellington.

Just over a month out from the Phoenix's season opener against Melbourne City, coach Ernie Merrick opened the match with a full-strength side including new signings Kosta Barbarouses, Gui Finkler and Marco Rossi.

First-half goals from Barbarouses and Michael McGlinchey gave Wellington a 2-0 lead at the break, with a second-half strike to Alex Rodriguez rounding off the solid victory.

Merrick was pleased with the overall performance and also the link-up play between his new signings and established stars McGlinchey, Bonevacia and Roy Krishna.

"Roy is already showing he performs well with Kosta, and with service coming from our midfield from Gui Finkler, Mikey McGlinchey and Roly Bonevacia, that combination up front is working well," he said.

Merrick was also happy with the performance of new Italian centre-back Rossi.

"I thought he combined really well with Andrew Durante - Rossi has been a really good find for us."
