The 24-year-old committed the robbery at the dairy in Rhodes Drive in Kelvin Grove on Wednesday morning but was arrested a short time later, police said.

Police recovered the pistol and stolen tobacco, and the man is due to appear in Palmerston North District Court on Thursday, charged with aggravated robbery.
