Pittsburgh Mayor Bill Peduto (D) announced on Tuesday that he was raising the minimum wage for city workers to $15 an hour.

The mayor's executive order will be phased in over five years and affect about 300 city employees, the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reported.

The announcement came as workers around the country demonstrated in favor of raising the minimum wage to $15, which Democratic presidential hopeful Hillary Clinton tweeted in support of on Tuesday.
