An ATR aircraft that made an emergency landing at Palmerston North Airport will remain on the runway until it has been inspected by engineers, Air New Zealand says.

As a result, nine remaining Air New Zealand services into and out of Palmerston North have been cancelled.

Flight NZ5075 from Auckland to Nelson diverted to Palmerston North with a suspected nose gear issue.

The aircraft landed without incident at 4.43pm on Sunday.

All 64 passengers and five crew on board have disembarked safely.

The captain met with the passengers in the terminal and they will now be transported by road to Wellington to continue their journeys.

The Fire Service sent five crews for the landing and had more on standby.
