Police are asking parents to be vigilant after two incidents of unknown men approaching children outside schools in Upper Hutt in the past week.

On March 28, a man approached a child outside Upper Hutt Primary School and police say they are reviewing information and following positive lines of enquiry.

On Tuesday, a pupil was approached near a primary school in Trentham.

Police cannot confirm a link between the two incidents, but have increased patrols in the area and are working with the school and families involved.

In an incident on Fergusson Dr in Upper Hutt on March 13, a man reported to police has been identified and it has been established there was no criminal intent involved.
