Police kill dog during property search

Police have shot and killed a dog while executing a search warrant in Christchurch.

The raid was being undertaken at the Yaldhurst Road property on Wednesday morning when the animal attacked officers and a police dog, prompting police to open fire.

The dog was killed during the skirmish.

Police were searching the property in relation to dishonesty offences.
