Police look at bee sting in fatal crash

NZ NewswireNZ Newswire 11/05/2016

A bee sting may have contributed to a fatal crash in which a milk tanker went off the road in the Tasman District, police say.

Timaru man Eric Heath, 47, was killed when the tanker he was driving crashed off State Highway 6 at Glenhope in the rural Tasman District and into scrub on Tuesday afternoon.

Police say they're still investigating what caused the truck to leave the road but Senior Sergeant Blair Hall said Mr Heath appeared to have been stung by a bee before the accident.

It was not clear yet if it was a cause of the crash, he said.
