Police name man in fatal Southland crash

A man who died when a motorcycle and car collided in Southland during Labour Weekend came from Invercargill.

He was Donald Stanley Hammond, 56, who died at the scene.

No one else was injured in the incident, which happened on State Highway 99 at Wallacetown about 3pm on Monday.

Police say their investigation into the crash is continuing.

The fatality was one of three on New Zealand roads during the long weekend holiday period, which ended at 6am on Tuesday.
