Police are investigating after a video surfaced of a Coromandel boy apparently driving a car with a goat as passenger.

A Whitianga man posted the video to Facebook on Monday.

"There is an eight-year-old driving this car... The car is packed with kids... and a goat, you're f***king kidding me," the tailing driver exclaims.

He said there were at least four children around the same age in the car, and pulled along side to let the driver know he shouldn't be driving.

A man then emerged from the back seat to say the boy was "training".

Police say they're are aware of the video and are making inquiries.
