Police want to speak to two men about an alleged sexual assault in Nelson on Monday night.

The alleged incident occurred at around 8.00pm when a woman was confronted by two men, one of whom assaulted her, as she walked up the Centre of New Zealand Walkway.

After a brief struggle, the woman pushed the man away and escaped.

But the same man again confronted her later that same night while she was walking home on Milton Street, near the Halifax Street East corner.

After attempting to assault her again, he ran off and police have been unable to locate him.

The woman was shaken but uninjured.

The offender is described as Middle-Eastern, around 20 years old and approximately 160 to 170cm in height.

He has dark hair and a beard and was wearing a white T-shirt and dark trousers.

Police would like to hear from anyone who might have witnessed the incidents.
