Police are calling for anyone to come forward who may have been in the area when a woman was sexually assaulted near the Lincoln Event Centre.

A 48-year-old woman had left the Lincoln Event Centre after attending a concert about 6.30pm on Saturday and was going along Meijer Drive on to North Belt when the attack happened, police say.

Police have spoken with a number of people, but believe more would've been in the area, including a man and a woman who were having an argument on the street.

They would also like to speak with a woman who was on the football grounds outside the concert about 6pm, described as Caucasian, 40-ish, with pink and white/blonde hair.

Detective Sergeant Phil Sparks says the victim was grabbed from behind and pushed a short distance off the road to where she was assaulted.

During the attack, she lost a fine gold chain bracelet with a heart-shaped gold locket that has a small diamond on one side and a keyhole on the other.

Det Sgt Sparks says the attack occurred between 6.30pm and 8pm, which means it was still daylight.

He says members of the public may have seen something that can help in identifying the offender.

The victim is described as being of thin build with a dark bob haircut. She was wearing a black straw hat, a light grey dress, brown leather boots and a denim jacket, and she was carrying two small backpacks.
