Police seek man recalled to prison

NZ NewswireNZ Newswire 22/07/2016

A man jailed for bashing a transvestite to death is on the run from police after being recalled to prison.

On Friday Northland police said they are trying to locate David Shaun Galloway, 24, who is wanted to arrest on a parole recall warrant.

Galloway is from the Whangarei and Kaipara area and also has a warrant to arrest for breaching his release conditions.

He is believed to be in the Whangarei area and is actively avoiding police.

Galloway, who was 18 at the time, was originally jailed for 10 years, with a minimum non-parole period of five years, for the fatal bashing of Richard Milton Jones of Upper Hutt on April 29, 2009.

Three Court of Appeal judges reduced the sentence.
