Police seek tyre damager in Greymouth

The tyres of at least 36 vehicles have been stabbed in Greymouth.

Following reports of damage to around a dozen cars on Wednesday, police say another 24 vehicles are effected, including private cars, car yards and rentals.

More than one tyre has been stabbed on some of the cars, with a total of 50 damaged tyres on 36 cars, possibly done with a screwdriver.

Police believe it happened between 2am and 5am on Wednesday.

The offenders are believed to live in the Cobden area and have walked from Greymouth High School on High Street, along Herbert Street, Guinness Street, Mackay Street and over Cobden Bridge.

Police would like to hear from anyone else who's car may have been damaged.
