Police are seeking to locate a Mongrel Mob member believed to be in the Waikato and King Country area and say he shouldn't be approached.

Thomas Coffin, who is described as dangerous and possibly carrying a firearm, has multiple warrants for arrest.

Detective Constable Jimmie Walker says Coffin is a member of the King Country Mongrel Mob and may be wearing a patch.

He has contacts in the Te Kuiti, Taumarunui, Taneatua and coastal King Country locations and is possibly travelling between these places.

When last seen Coffin, who sometimes uses the name Tom Bell, was driving a stolen red 2000 Subaru Sedan, registration BKG498.

He has a dog tattoo on both sides of his face.
