Police sought wanted man for 'some time'

Police have arrested a wanted man in Northland, after an earlier report of armed police manning a roadblock in the area.

The 35-year-old man was arrested "without incident" in Whatuwhiwhi on the Karikari Peninsula, on Wednesday afternoon.

Police say they had been trying to find him for some time, as he was wanted for arrest in an alleged aggravated robbery and kidnapping.

They are appealing for recent sightings of the car he was arrested in, a Nissan Patrol 4WD, registration TQ2892 The New Zealand Herald reported police armed with rifles had been manning a roadblock and stopping vehicles, before the man was arrested.
