Porno Possibilities

Recent issues of the New York Times have been vibrating with stories about Sex -- a topic previously avoided or proscribed in this august newspaper. Even more surprising have been the recent Times stories about sexual activity in the West Bank, a pastime also previously avoided or proscribed.
The March 2 issue of the Times, for example, featured a front page article about how a Hamas leader, Mahmoud Ishtiwi, was murdered by his own followers following charges of "moral turpitude." What was his crime? The man (who is survived by two grieving wives and three children) also had gay lovers.
The same issue featured another lurid story about how women and girls imprisoned in Afghan jails are now receiving virginity tests. The procedures are being administered because these felons had run away from home (often fleeing an unwanted future husband), with another sexual partner.
Displaying the kind of sexual obsessiveness with which they have often charged Western nations, the Muslim world is finally demonstrating that it recognizes, even if it doesn't yet tolerate, the animal nature of the human race. Don't be surprised to see such countries as Iraq, Libya, and Lebanon developing (if they don't have them already) highly professional porno sites, in which the populace can witness the kind of activity it's not allowed to practice.
