Power cut to 2000 Auckland homes

NZ NewswireNZ Newswire 13/07/2016

More than 2000 homes in Auckland's North Shore have been left without electricity following an explosion at a substation.

Fire teams were called to the station on the corner of Northcote Road and Lake Road at about 7am on Thursday following reports of blasts by residents in the area.

The explosion had been caused by a fuse blowing and there was no fire at the scene, a Fire Service spokesman said.

Vector Energy said 2068 houses were without power and expected the fault to be fixed by 9.30am.
