NZ Newswire logoNZ Newswire 28/09/2016

Power has been restored to most of the 2000 homes and businesses left without electricity in the Auckland suburb of Remuera after a fire at a transformer.

Lines company Vector says only about 170 of the 2379 homes affected by the blaze on Abbotts Way on Thursday morning were still without electricity by 9am.

It expects to have the issue fully resolved by 12.30pm.

Five fire trucks and a specialist foam unit were called in to contain the blaze.

Auckland Transport has advised drivers to expect delays in the area.
