CHRISTCHURCH, NZN - Prince Harry has spent Wednesday morning meeting residents at a drug and alcohol rehabilitation centre in Christchurch.

Before heading to Linton military camp near Palmerston North later in the day, the 30-year-old royal visited Odyssey House, where residents had laid out a morning tea spread for him.

"Did you make all these?" he asked.

"I'm disappointed I had breakfast now."

After talking with director Nigel Laughton about Odyssey House's programme, Prince Harry got to head out to a workshop to talk to residents who've been building wooden tables.

He spoke to one resident who said he was an artist.

Prince Harry asked him if he had any of his work with him, and the resident handed him a drawing he had done of his son.

"That's incredible," the prince said.

"You're a genius. Don't do tables - do this."

The resident suggested he could draw a picture of the prince and send it to him.

"Yeah, just don't give me red hair," Prince Harry quipped.
