Whangmata runner Aaron Pulford has coasted to a fourth successive national 10,000m crown.

The 25-year-old pulled clear of the field early in fine conditions in Inglewood, winning by more than two minutes from Wellingtonian Harry Burnard.

Pulford's time of 29 minutes 38.98 seconds was more than half a minute quicker than his winning effort of a year earlier.

Sally Gibbs wasn't quite as comfortable as women's winner but she was still nearly a minute clear of the field with her time of 36min 38.69sec.

Waikato runner Gibbs last won the title in 2012.
