Quake campaign targets 18-30 age group

A campaign is being launched to get people aged between 18 and 30 up to speed with their earthquake preparations.

Civil Defence Minister Nathan Guy says the age group has a lower than average rate of preparedness.

"A big barrier to getting prepared is the false perception that it's too hard or costly," he said.

"The truth is, the most important thing to do is sit down with flatmates, friends or family and come up with a plan about what to do if an emergency happens."

The campaign will involve posters, digital advertising and social media.

Mr Guy says it will emphasise that it's no harder to prepare for an earthquake than it is to get ready for a festival, a road trip or a Netflix binge session.
