Quake scam warning issued

NZ Newswire logoNZ Newswire 18/11/2016

Fake building inspectors are doing the rounds in Palmerston North following Monday's massive earthquake and police are telling residents to show them the door.

They say people have been claiming to be from either the Earthquake Commission or Palmerston North City Council and were carrying out building inspections after the 7.8 quake. Neither organisation is carrying out inspections.

"Don't let these people into your house or property and be sure to report the interaction to police immediately," Inspector Dave White said.
